WILLISTON: YESTERDAY AND TODAY

In 1853, the area now known as Williston was part of Marion County. Jesse Mercer Willis, a county tax collector, decided to homestead and here he build his plantation and founded a town. Incorporated in 1897, it was incorporated as a city in 1929. With over 2,900 residents, Williston boasts retail businesses, a thriving service community and a close-knit community that rallies together to celebrate the good times and mourn the bad ones.
